Fall 2015 Update

Fall 2015 Update

Sep 6 2015

Hey everyone, thanks for visiting the site. As I type this, summer is coming to an end, and it's been an absolute blur—heck, pretty much all of 2015 has flown by so far. The last few months have been productive and fun, with a little bit of travel, some wild adventures, and tons of time on two (and four) wheels.

I decided to take a step back from racing this year in order to get a little recovery and focus on some other things, and it's been nice to have a bit of a break. I've done a few GNCCs and some other one-off events, so I'm still training as hard as ever, but my body has welcomed the lighter impacts that come from not beating yourself into the ground on a regular basis. It was definitely a little hard to watch the online coverage of Erzberg and Romaniacs and not be over there, but then I remember how destroyed both of those races make you feel! I'll definitely hit some local events and an EnduroCross or two before the year is done, and I'm sure that it's only a matter of time before I jump back into another big goal. For now, though, I've got plenty of other things to keep me busy (although, since Heather handed off the Mrs. California title earlier this summer, our schedule has calmed down a good bit on its own!)

On the work front, I rolled my 10-year anniversary at Dirt Rider Magazine earlier this year, and it's still one of the best jobs in the world. It's not common for people to stay at the same gig for this long, and it's truly wild to look back and see how the media business has changed in just a decade. Still, Dirt Rider continues to adapt and evolve, and while the year started out a little crazy, things have settled into a nice rhythm. We've been doing a ton of testing lately of all the new 2016 models—with plenty more still to be released—and with our 450 and 250F motocross shootouts both taking place soon, there's a lot more riding on the horizon. The big task for the summer was launching an all-new dirtrider.com; take a look if you haven't already, we're pretty proud of how that thing turned out.

On the stunt side, I've had some great opportunities in 2015 to do some film work, when my schedule allows it. If you brought yourself to go see the new Terminator Genysis film, you may have caught a glimpse of me slaying robots from the skid of a huey, driving a Humvee through a hail of gunfire or arresting Arnold as an M4-wielding cop (sorry that the rest of the movie kinda stunk, I really thought it was going to be better!). Huge thanks to Gary Hymes and John Stoneham Jr. for bringing me aboard for that one. I can't talk too much about the other projects I've been doing lately (at least, not until the movies come out), but I can tell you that the last few projects have included a few firsts, a handful of sketchy moments, and a ton of great times with some of the best people in the world. I feel truly fortunate to be a part of it all.

Well, that's a little recap on what has been going on in 2015. Thanks again for checking out the site, I hope that everyone reading this has had an awesome summer. Here's to an even better Fall.

Ride hard,
